MADDEN COLLECTION

In January 2016, the University of Denver was pleased to accept the Madden Collection as a permanent addition to the University’s holdings. John W. Madden, Jr., developer of the Fiddler's Green campus in Greenwood Village, CO., donated a collection of 133 artworks and subsequently granted the University of Denver access to operate the Madden Museum of Art as a hands-on training facility for students of all disciplines, but focused on students studying art history and museum studies.

MADDEN MUSEUM OF ART

The Madden Museum of Art operated by the University of Denver is dedicated to advancing the knowledge and passion for art through the presentation and preservation of works of art in the collection, supported by scholarship and programs.

Under the guidance of Director Geoffrey Shamos, the Madden Museum of Art’s programming and management is fully operated and run by University of Denver students; both Graduate and Undergraduate. The Madden Museum is free to enter with no tickets or reservations necessary.

UNIVERSITY CLASSES

Various University classes are held at the Madden Museum of Art including the museum studies course Curatorial Practicum where students work collaboratively to plan and execute an exhibition to be displayed at the museum, and studio art classes where students learn from the art objects displayed here.
